case study: investor value

Annfield Investments Ltd: Space Optimisation, 7 Castle Street, Edinburgh

SLA identified an opportunity to add value to Annfield's building at 7 Castle Street, by infilling its 6m x 6m glazed atrium. This increases the amount of net internal area available - with no additional core area - and improves the configuration of the office suites.

The design solution allowed all components to be carried into the building by hand, and the work is being implemented on a floor-by-floor programme without interruption to the business activities of the building's tenants. The first phase of the project, up to Third floor level, is finished and is now in use. When all six floors are complete, the project will have delivered an increase in net internal area of over 2,000 sq ft.

In parallel with the atrium infill, we have designed a small extension to the rear of the building. This provides additional office area at First floor level, and facilitates subdivision of the floor plates by improving the main building circulation.
